Inspire Me Monday!

Hi dear friends! I don't know about you, but weddings have been on our mind lately! We've got a few weddings in the books and so we've been really concentrating on that area of our business in hopes for it to flourish! So with that in mind, I want to bring to you inspiration for wedding planning with a focus on fall colors!

There's something about a fall wedding that breathes refreshing, natural, and breathtaking! The colors are pulled straight from mother earth...the perfect place to get your wedding colors! :)

These are what I call the more "traditional" fall wedding colors: bright reds and yellows that signify the changing of the seasons. Then there's some "non" traditional colors that I still think fit with fall weddings.

I LOVE the teal/blue color with brown! I love it for home decor and for invites and wedding color schemes.

Here's purple, orange, and brown. It actually pulls together nicely!

And last....anything paired with gray makes my heart happy!

...I could go on forever with the gray....

Dear Friday, I think I LOVE you!

Hello Friday!! Hello Weekend!

Hi friends. I hope you're all having a great week and looking forward to a great weekend. This week was good for us at Happy Hearts. We have two weddings in the books! Our first two!! We're so excited to be a part of someone's special day and can't wait to complete the invitations. We'll keep you posted on the wedding excitement.

So, Friday...we love you...and we also love...
Have you ever been to Nothing Bundt Cakes? It's our newest obsession as far as food goes (and yes, we're still obsessed with chocolate covered gummies!)

Our favorite so far is the red velvet and we get them in these mini bundt cakes. I'm sure if we bought a whole bundt cake we could easily devour it!

Check them out! You'll fall in love! :)

Happy Friday!

"What Are We Doing?" Wednesday

Just a few nights ago we finished up with a great invitation for a little Mickey Mouse lovin' 2 year old...(his name is not Joey, like in the samples, but...well...you get the point!)

It's the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse invitation! And really, it's as self-explanatory as it can get. These cute invitations went all the way home to Illinois with my mother-in-law to be picked up by the boy's momma!

We also designed 3 other options for it...

I'm excited about the turn-out of these cards as well as being able to come up with some variations for it. Look for them in our etsy shop today!

Tomorrow we are meeting with a bride to talk about her invitations, and we also have another wedding opportunity with a bride that is in the works. Exciting! :)

Happy Wednesday!

Inspire Me Monday!

I'm sitting here staring at my laptop...not feeling inspired!!! NO!!! That can't be!

It's "Inspire me Monday!"

Yes, there are days that this can happen to ALL of us...sadly. You stare at a project, maybe it's the wall in your bedroom or bathroom that you can't choose a color for (which is currently my status also)...and nothing comes to you.

Usually during these times I go to my Google Reader and start browsing through the many blogs that I follow. I wait for colors and images to pop at me, and I start my brainstorming process. So today, I want to pull some pictures from some of my favorite and most inspiring blogs. And maybe I'll give just a little blurb about why it inspires me... Days that I don't have sudden inspiration tend to be a collection of the most random things that inspire. So bare with me!
This inspiration board comes from Oh So Beautiful Paper, probably one of my favorite blogs about weddings and paper at the moment. This collection of images is ooh soo very earthy and makes me get excited for fall wedding invitations. I love the sticks that can be seen on the man's boutonniere. It adds to the earthy tones of brown and subtle orange that would make a lovely lovely fall wedding!
The first thing I said when I came across this picture from Paper Crave was "wow!" I LOVE the subtle dark detail in the brown enclosure and something about the teal and yellow colors together makes my heart happy! The colors give a tropical feel, but I could see this color working for a fall wedding as well. I wonder what kind of invitation I could come up with using these colors...hm..And lastly, I'm in love with this piece of art by Rockett St George, found via This is Glamorous. Not only do I love the saying, but I love the negative space that there is in the frame. Sometimes I come across stationary or invitations that are just jam-packed with artwork and words and it feels so overwhelming. Negative space is like a breath of fresh air! I need to remember that as I design new pieces of work...and not only that, I love the negative space in the picture! All that white around the bed makes it feel oh-so clean! :)

So that's my random inspiration for the day. I need to do this more often. It REALLY helps me in my brainstorming process and in studying other works of art (yes, cards and invitations are ART! heehee).

Be inspired today, even if it means searching for that inspiration in the most random things. Most of the time that's where we find the best inspiration!

"What Are We Doing?" Wednesday

Happy new month friends! I can't believe it's already July! It is quite refreshing though! It's a holiday week too...fireworks this weekend! woo!!

So, what are we up to? Well....we have a possible 1st wedding to be a part of (I need to tell you about this Glenda!) and I am wrapping up a 2 yr old's birthday invitation with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme:
Now, this is only a digital rendering of the design. It will be three layers of cardstock, the black back, pattern layer, and then the Mickey Mouse silhouette cut out. Talking with the client, we decided to use a different pattern of paper instead of the polka dots. The dots feel more like Minnie Mouse than Mickey. I will have to post this when it gets finished and it will soon be up on our online store!

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Inspire Me Monday!

Good morning friends! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I did...and I think I could use some coffee right about now...

I think one of our favorite design elements to use in just about everything is damask. I'm not sure what it is about damask, but it's inspiring and can fit just about any invitation or card needed! Here's a few of our designs inspired by the damask pattern:

And while some of these designs are not TRUE damask, they were definitely inspired by it!

This paper pattern from Paper-Source is more of a "flourish" than a damask, but has been our favorite for a while! It also has a matching stamp (which we used both the paper and the stamp in the above Mary Kay consultant set).

And I can't help but to do a search on etsy to find some lovely handmade items inspired by damask!

Last but not least, our dear friend Melanie, whom we made these calling cards for, uses damask in much of her home decor.

It makes me want to get moving on a lot of my DIY home decor projects!!! Check out her stuff here. And here's a few of her damask projects from her blog.

Boy, I really bombarded your lives with lots of pictures! Enjoy your Monday! Live inspired!
